The Baseline Caribbean project needs as much help as possible to successfully reconstruct the complexity and variation of ancient reef ecosystems.
We are collecting massive amounts of material that need to be carefully washed and the fossil corals, bivalves, gastropods, fish otoliths, sponge spicules and shark dermal denticles need to be picked and identified. This will take many years before we can publish in scientific journals.
Reference collections of all the organisms we are studying need to be compiled and published online. We need funds to support and train students, carbon-date fossil corals, and take us to new places around the Caribbean to encompass as much variation as possible.
